In the meantime...
Since I probably won't be blogging anything eventful or insightful during the next few weeks due to the swamping of exams (what else is new?), I'd rather give you a little something you can check from time to time:
Tumblr is a neat little site that I discovered around early last year that promotes what is called microblogging. It's randomness at its best: it allows people to post any kind of media (photos, videos, music, links, quotes, text, etc.) that they create themselves or find around the internet. You can like or reblog other posts on the site and other people can do the same to your posts, too. You can also "follow" other users and see what they post in the dashboard. It's also very easy to use that some bloggers have completely switched to Tumblr from their original blogging platforms.
I do have to warn you, though, that it can get VERY addicting once you get the hang of it.

My tumblelog, as Tumblr blogs are called, is crazy random as it could get. It's filled with quotes and links and photos that I got from other users and from around the internet. Sometimes my posts have recurring themes such as Harry Potter, Glee, movies, and writing, since I follow and reblog tumblelogs dedicated to these. I only have a few followers, only around four of whom I actually know in real life.
This is where I spend the erratic times I get to surf the internet (Facebook's becoming blah already), so I'm usually active here. I'm not switching blogs, I'm just whiling my time away on such an addicting place. Check it out if you want, and don't forget to follow if you have tumblelogs! :)

Doing what we do best.
Yesterday, I and some of my batchmates volunteered in UP Manila's medical mission in Brgy. San Juan, Cainta, Rizal. This was headed by UPM's Ugnayan ng Pahinungod as a response to the Ondoy victims who most probably haven't received appropriate medical attention since the typhoon's onslaught.

The calltime was inhuman -- SIX FREAKIN' A.M. (although this is our call time when we went on duty in the Central ICU, but of course that's a different thing) -- and this was the primary reason why some of our interested batchmates weren't able to go with us. But despite the small number of volunteers from the College of Nursing, we were still able to do what we do best and rendered our services to the people who needed it the most. :)

The other colleges that went with us in this medical mission were Pharmacy and Medicine. We nurses did all the work during the earlier part of the medical mission; taking people's vital signs, taking pertinent health histories, providing the initial records of the patients, and conducting some health teachings along the way. All of the people practically went through us before we referred them to the pharmacists or doctors, who in turn were most toxic during the later part of the medical mission since they were responsible for dispensing the medicines and in-depth consultation with the patients.

Our job as nurses lasted from 8am to 1pm straight. Of course that was very tiring, having to accommodate countless people within that time frame. Nevertheless, the fun and fulfillment we all felt have no doubt beat the exhaustion of our job. Not bad for our very first medical mission together! :)

This is one of those times that I'm so glad I'm in the medical profession. I'm so looking forward to more opportunities of this kind in the future, and I hope I'll be able to make time for them. :)
Complete set of pictures are in my Multiply and Facebook, and are viewable only by my contacts in each. :)

Of course, the UP COLLEGE OF NURSING is also spearheading its own relief drives and is still accepting donations until now. All UP Manila colleges are doing their share in the relief operations, methinks. Wala lang kaming poster. :))
Still, we all have the same goal of helping our devastated brethren recover from this unfortunate event. If you have the time, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spend it by helping out in the relief centers nearest you or if it’s not too much, you may also donate some relief goods to be repacked and distributed to the people in badly-affected areas.
I wasn’t able to help out in our college’s relief operations, but thankfully there’s a similar one going on in our town hall for some days now. That’s where I’ve been spending my afternoons for the past two days. :) It’s very heartwarming to see that people are all-out on helping the Ondoy victims, and this good feeling is what keeps me and my fellow volunteers moving to send out more goods as possible.
Tomorrow, some fellow students from UPCN will be deployed to Cainta and hopefully I’ll be able to join them. According to our student council’s chairperson, they’ve been able to distribute 216 packages and 180 kg of rice yesterday, and a lot more packages, kgs of rice, and clothes and medicines are on standby for the deployment tomorrow. Pepeng, damn you, wag ka nang pa-bibbo pa.
It’s very unfortunate that it took our nation an event like this to show that we are capable of uniting and working towards the betterment of our society. It’s much more unfortunate that there are those who are taking advantage of the situation for their personal gains, and even worse, those who are apathetic or are too thick to say that we deserved what happened. Let us not add to this sick types of people and focus on the more important tasks on hand. Let’s do our duties as bonafide Filipino citizens. Iskolar ng Bayan, Para sa Bayan! :)

Move move move!
Being the health sciences center of the UP System, UP Manila and the Philippine General Hospital are among the countless institutions mobilizing its student body and workforce to respond in any way they can to our less fortunate brethren who were greatly affected by Typhoon Ondoy. Right now, each college in UPM is holding their own donation drives and PGH is organizing various medical and rescue missions in greatly devastated areas as well.
I will be active in the relief drives that will be organized by my college once I get back to school. I urge everyone to do the same in their respective schools or workplaces -- your contributions will surely lead to the great successes of these drives in helping the typhoon victims.
Below is an extensive list of more relief drives you can join in or contribute to. I'm sure there are more drives being organized by countless other groups, but this list can be a good place to start. Also regularly check your Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates from various sources.

She Talks Like A Boss
I am a BS Nursing student at the University of the Philippines Manila working my to become either a
neurosurgeon/neurologist or an oncologist, but never for a working visa
abroad.
Cavite and Manila will always be dearest to my heart.
Reading and writing are my first, and will forever be, my loves. Then came gaming, soundtripping, public speaking, acting, the health and social sciences, photography, blogging, and chemistry.
I'm a sucker for cheap thrills and guilty pleasures -- I'm what my friends describe as "laging game." I also have diverse likes and dislikes, some being quite unusual like my longing to learn Greek.
I absolutely abhor girliness, fashion, make-up, boy-craziness, and the color pink as much as I cursemath. >:( Instead, I dress down, rock with my guitar, love to laugh, am carefree, loud,
and I tend to be one of the boys -- reasons why you should never be fooled by my meek exterior.
I'm also spontaneous, very opinionated, sympathetic, moody, cynical, non-conforming, sentimental, a procrastinator, a cyberjunkie, a night owl, and a hopeless romantic. I have a distorted sense of righteousness, beauty, and all those abstract things as compared to society. I'm a terribly complicated individual, a walking and breathing contradiction, a messy package rolled into one... And loves every minute of it.
